OpenBSD is the BSD distribution that used
to run the cepheid.org domain. It is secure, with some scaling problems
(both in actual performance, and in terms of administration).
I've written a fairly short page, "Why Not OpenBSD" that
I encourage you to read before deploying OpenBSD for the first time. It might
save you some headache down the road, or at least prepare you for the headaches
you will encounter.
Here are patches to help give back to the OpenBSD community, most likely out of
date and broken now. Feel free to use them as a start in your own efforts,
however.
Freetype 2, port of Freetype 2
GD 2, port of GD 2
PHP 4, port of php4 supporting GD2 and FT2
Patch to allow limiting the symbolic host size
logged by ftpd. Useful for logging correct, rather than easily readable,
information about users. Plain diffs
Patch giving a command-line option to login to
limit the size of the wtmp entry it makes. See above for "why". Plain diffs
Patch for telnet to call login(1) with the
extra command line added above. Plain diffs
Patch which logs UPLOAD statistics for ftpd,
as well as download, by jpmcgraw1@home.com. Plain diff
Ranpass, a short Perl script written by pckizer@tamu.edu
to generate a variable number of random passwords for general use.
LPRng, a port (extract into /usr/ports/sysutils) of
LPRng, a lpr replacement.
Jarl, a port of Jarl (a CLI/Tk Jabber client). Several
related ports as well, since it is definately not a light-weight program.
TACACS+, a port of Cisco's TACACS+ server.
Apache::Session, a port of this perl module
Mail::Sendmail, port of this perl module
irc, updated net/irc port
liblwp, a port of LWP, needed for Coda
